A plane flies 1725 miles with the wind and 1395 miles against the wind in the same amount of time. If the speed of the plane in still air is 520 mph, find the speed of the wind…

1725 = with the wind
1395 = against the wind
x = speed of plane in still air
y = ? (speed of wind)

x+y = 1725
x-y = 1395
2x = 3120
x = 1560
1560 + y = 1725
y = 165

This seems to be the wrong answer. Anyone knows how it’s done?

You are mostly right, however what it means with 1725 miles with the wind and 1395 miles against the wind in the same amount of time. is that after time t we have these equations:

t(520+y) = 1725 (time * rate = distance)
t(520-y) = 1395
now t=1725/(520+y) from the first equation
and t=1395/(520-y) from the second, I can equate these to get:
1725/(520+y)=1395/(520-y)

Now we can cross multiply to get
1725(520-y)=1395(520+y)
897000 – 1725y = 725400 + 1395y
171600=3120y
y=55

hope that’s clear.

The QX9770 is kind of pointless, and even if he used that a 1300W PSU is ridiculous. Also, read the reviews on the P5Q3. The board malfunctions a lot, and clearly wouldn’t be a good choice.

Research the components before you ‘suggest’ the most expensive option that came up in your search.

I am going to ask this in a couple places……

I have a marketing assignment and thought of a "green kit". You can pick from reusable shopping bags, the water regulators for toilets (etc), incandescent light bulbs, maybe some seeds for planting trees/flowers, baby and cleaning products, info and set up (if interested) for setting up solar power paneling, maybe some recycling bins that break down so you can store them easily (we have to take our recycling to a bin at the end of town….no pick up), notebooks/school supplies made from recycled material…that’s all I thought of so far.

1) would you buy it?
2) would you add anything to the list that you would want to buy?

Thanks all……

As an individual, no I would not buy it. However I can see something like this being marketed to conferences or green businesses looking to do promotions. They could just buy a few hundred kits at a time.

I would add more information to each kit. Things to educate people on the benefits of living green, how to spot fake green products, different how-to’s such as "how to reduce the impact on the planet."

I think including educational material with an kit you put together will have a more resounding impact than just products alone. Perhaps even kits that have specific purposes like reducing your water bill or making recycling easier.

I was wondering if I can DIY this project or if I need to hire someone and get permits

Man , you need a permit to sneeze in Vegas , IF you’re wearing a nail apron .

The Slayers –

Slayers is the staple of lighthearted fight/magic animes. Like most animes to follow, a lot of it is funny with drama woven in and then takes a serious turn at the end of all three its seasons. The first season of the TV series is a little hard to get through because it’s older and slow paced at times, but it’s worth it overall. The second season called "Slayers Next" is arguably the best season and it’s amazing in all areas of magic, fighting, and humor. The animation is much better. "Slayers Try," the last season, is a nice addition with the best animation of the three. I would recommend staying away from the movies and OVAs (Slayers Glorious, Slayers Excellent, etc.) While decent, the OVAs only feature one character from the original cast.

Visions of Escaflowne –

This is a very good anime with magic and fighting. Most of the fighting is done with a take on the classic mech, but there is definitely a magic element to the whole series. It is heavy on love stories, but there’s plenty of action and dark plot twists. Music is done by Yoko Kanno of Cowboy Bebop, Wolf’s Rain, and Record of Lodoss War fame.

Bastard –

A hilarious and wonderful magic/fight anime. It’s also older, but the animation holds up amazingly well even by today’s standards. The protagonist/anti-hero Dark Schinder is guaranteed to win you over. And the best (and worst) thing is it is very short (only 6 episodes.) Highly recommended

Vampire Hunter D – Bloodlust

I’m not sure how you feel about vampire animes, but this one is gorgeous and the fight scenes are flawless. There is a lot of magic, though perhaps not in the classic anime fighting sense (ie. turn based, video game like fighting). It’s a movie.

Revolutionary Girl Utena –

It definitely has a lot of interpersonal social drama, but there is a lot of fighting and magic elements. You might want to ask a few others that know your taste well if they think you would like this anime. It’s very good, but not for everyone.

Witch Hunter Robin –

Personally I didn’t much care for this series, but you might find it interesting. There is fighting and magic for the most part, but the plot doesn’t go anywhere special.

Ten years ago at my old house I put in a backup power system with 4 panels 12v 45 watts each, fed through a large inverter for backup power. At that time the Panels were 400 each (people said they’d get cheaper in the future) But Now i’ve searched everywhere, and Panels are like 800 dollars each. My question is: Is solar Power ever going to be affordable? I’m already having a hard time with loans that I have, so I need to find Panels (maybe a kit?) that I can afford. Doesanybody Know?

I have heard nothing but good things about panels from the following place. However, the "seconds" are not ul-listed, so won’t qualify for rebate programs in most places. Sounds like this isn’t a concern for you.

http://www.sunelec.com/

Some cheap panels are below, in the following link. But the cheapest ones are amorphous silicon – not known to last a long time. But if this system is for emergencies only, then maybe that’s what you want.
