I hear that the new solar panel systems will be affordable and aimed at the DIY crowd so I like to know if my home is properly orientated.
I am located near Napa CA, my home has no roof slant facing the south.

Depends on where you are in the country/earth, but generally electrical solar panels are located on the south side of a sloping roof or at an angle that is roughly half way between the high and low points of the sun (summer and winter). Solar heat collectors are usually aimed some what east of south to pick up heat earlier in the day and are aimed lower to get heat directly in the winter and more indirectly in the summer.

After my previous question, during my writing test mom called the vet, made an appointment, we took her in and the vet took her weight, temperature, checked her out by feeling her puffyness, and she went and took an empty needle syringe, put it under her skin, tried pulling whatever is in out, all she found was air under her skin.

The vet told us that the only way she coulda gotten air under her skin is if her lungs got punctured somehow?
Or if there was some sort of wound and the wound is allowing air under her skin but not out.

We have to pay $189 as it is, for the vet visit and an X-ray.
The X-ray is about $150 alone.
They also called asking if we can pay $60 more to sedate her because she won’t let the vets X-ray her.

I think they’re charging too much and we don’t have the money for the $60 so mom said no and the nurse that called said she’d figure out something she can do without sedating her.

What do you think is wrong with our precious Rayne…?
She’s an INDOOR cat, and so are the other 5, and the other 5 are acting normal, just, worried about Rayne.
We’ve lived with cats all our life and we’ve never seen anything like this.
The vet said it was bizzare.
Problem – we’re in Cali.
NOBODY will lower the bill of anything.
X_X
Also, we have bunk beds but all our cats jump down from the top of them ALL THE TIME.
The vet explained that there must’ve been an outer wound letting air under her skin, or something must’ve hurt her lungs somehow.
If she fought with one of the other kitties to hurt her THAT bad we would’ve heard it! Besides, we ALWAYS break up our cats fighting as soon as they start.
The vet stated it might be Emphysema?
I can’t find absolutely anything on Google about it.
What’s emphysema and how do you FIX it!?
And what causes it?
Could she have gotten whatever she has from another cat in the kennel after getting her fixed a few days ago?
Dances with Woofs!: Hehe, your username is cute.
Well, we would’ve noticed that too! We always keep a very good eye on our cats.
We have 2 sister cats, 4 years old, one had the other 4 kittens, and Rayne is the oldest of the kittens.
The kittens are about…9-10 months old and we always keep a very good eye on them.
She was acting like she was in pain, in my opinion, and MISERABLE.
She didn’t like moving much and she spent all night up on my bed last night, on a red blanket.
I got an hour and a half of sleep because I was keeping an eye on her.
She was breathing kinda heavy last night and her sister Phantom was licking her head and laying next to her.
Layla -her mother- was yelling at my mom to take her to the vet, and since they know what the vet is, since they all recently got fixed, Rayne was walking up to the vet box cause she wanted us to help her.
Layla’s sister Taloose is like a nanny, and was yelling all night last night cause she knew something was wrong.
Also, kicked her? Nooo, never, the only one that lives here that would kick her would be my older brother and he only shoves the cats away with his foot when they were in heat and following him around, and he hasn’t been here in 2 days, and this happened just last night – he wasn’t here at all!
Besides, he wouldn’t kick her hard enough to cause this, not at all.
None of us are abusive in any way to our kitties.
<3
Mom just called the vet, the vet is gonna drain the air, keep her overnight and see if she puffs up again in the morning and if she does she’ll drain it again.
She took 2 X-rays, one didn’t turn out too well, so they’re gonna take another but she says it looks like something in her throat/trachea area was torn.
She said it isn’t external so it couldn’t have been from a fight or from being bitten by something.
She’s not gonna charge us for the draining or keeping her overnight or the extra X-ray.
That was nice of her too ^-^

zerovelocity10@gmail.com
My e-mails if you’ve already answered and have any other ideas?
They kept her 2 nights so far and were draining the air, she ate some food n drank some water and the vet said she’s doing fine and hasn’t filled back up with air.
They gave her a blanket and she curled up in it and hid :3
If she doesn’t fill up again with air tomorrow, the vet said we can come n pick her up.

I have a 1995 Ford F-150 Eddie Bauer Edition, Its got Push-button 4X4 High and Low with Auto-locking hubs. Here is my problem, I HAVE NO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE!!! I have good reason to beleave that the problem is in my hubs because when i turn on the 4X4 i can hear the front drivetrain wind up and lock in but i do not have power to the front wheels. i first noticed this when i went into the ditch my first time, Not fun, the left reer wheel was stuck and i noticed the front wheels had no power and were clicking. I have since then discovered no matter what i do i have no 4×4, this is a huge problem because i live in Minnesota and a 4×4 truck with no 4×4 is worthless. My question to all of you is what is wrong? If anybody else has had this problem please inform me as i would like to fix it SOON!! I was thinking of pulling the auto hubs and switching to manual locking hubs? Is this a good idea and do i need a kit? Thank you in advance fo all ya help!!
Yes Evan, i drive a full size pickup, i get 16 miles to the gallon which is better than my moms 04 SUV and my neighbors crown vic, if you dont wanna help my cause or simply wanna p!$$ people off you shouldnt be on Answers……

you can check out whats not working by jacking the front wheels off the ground, in 2×4 you should be able to spin the front drive shaft with your hand and if you spin a wheel on one side the other one will not spin. now put it in 4×4. with the truck in park you now shouldn’t be able to spin the front drive shaft. now start your engine (engine must run to have vacuum) and spin one of the wheels, the wheel on the other side should turn the the other way. if you can spin the drive shaft with 4×4 on and in park you either have a problem with the transfer case or a linkage (electric motor if you have electric 4×4) but if when engine is running and in 4×4 and the other wheel (other side then the one your spinning) does not spin your front diff is not locking in. it is vacuum operated. it can be a vacuum leak or something wrong with the vacuum solenoid. but more commonly the linkage from the vacuum solenoid to the diff seizes up. this can be fixed by removing the solenoid and spraying the spot where the linkage enters the transfer case with penetrating oil. now work it back and forth (you will need a wrench at first) keep working it and spraying it down with lube and it should ease up. once you can move it with you hand your 4×4 should be up and running again.

What would they be? Assume you have enough food and water, so those don’t count against your three things. Your three items cannot be things that will get you off the island (like a boat or plane or cell phone!)

I would want:
-A solar powered radio
-A first aid kit
-A hot babe

ummm……
-a first aid kit…….
-my Pomeranian
-and someone special to share the moments with

I’d like to build some solar panels for my house, and I have the instructions to do so. However, I live in NY, which means we get snow and ice. Because of this I question the use of glass, or at least standard glass, that might be more incline to break or chip. Would alternatives work as well? Also, I heard that an anti-reflective coating on the "glass" would increase the efficiency of the panels, but I can’t find anything that would do this unless I order pretty expensive "glass" (which sort of defeats the purpose of making the panels myself). Any advice?

You can use double strength glass, which is, as the name implies, twice the strength of standard glass. The other option is to use a tempered glass which increases the cost substantially. As far as buying pure "white" glass, you are getting well beyond reasonable cost.

Here is a list of manufacturers and distributors of anti reflective coatings, from a brief read it seems that this may not be a do it yourself project. Good Luck!

Prolong the life of your new air conditioner or make your old air conditioner last longer! Using a CoverMates air conditioning cover is easy and effective. Available in round, like this one, as well as square and rectangular in various sizes. The polyester 300D material we use is very breathable, so the build up of moisture and condensation is much less than with PVC/vinyl air conditioner covers. An Air Conditioner cover should keep water out – not trap it in!While many outdoor air conditioner units are made of aluminum and other corrosion resistant metals, there are often some smaller parts in and around the unit that are not, and are prone to rust if exposed to harsh elements. We have incorporated heavy duty straps around the bottom and middle of the cover so it can be securely fastened and is should not blow off in heavy winds. The freon lines and electrical lines to the units can be routed between our Velcro slits on the corners, then re-fastened so most brands and configurations can be covered quite nicely. Note: If your connections are not on the corners of your air conditioning unit, this cover will not work well for you.Other valuable features of our CoverMates Elite air conditioner covers include built-in breathing vents to allow for air circulation and a strong elastic hem to keep the cover
