Jane, oh Jane it pains me to see
Of the pale love that he doth give to thee.
His love as the serpent who stalks in the grass.
His deception can fool you my love, through me it cannot pass.

Dear Jane, he cannot appreciate your weary eyes.
Nor can he see behind the sapphire that is so wise.
My darling Jane, the gem is impaired.
He speaks with a forked tongue, you hath a beauty so rare.

My sweet Jane, such roses I see in your cheeks.
Yet he looks with such arrogance, deceives when he speaks.
As to paint those roses there with his hand.
He claims they grew there, lovely Jane, he does not understand.

Beautiful Jane, your hair waves with the ocean‘s hands.
Your locks mimic the golden sun above, he sees only sand.
My darling, I spy a world in his grain of sand.
You hath no simplicity, but he does not understand.

Fair maiden thy smile hath more strength than thy voice‘s sweet melody.
In thy smile I vision heavens mighty glow, in his evil I see thy enemy.
My love, you are blind to see this knave’s shallowness of sight.
For he sees shallows as depths, water as a mirror, he bends from false height.

His is the cosmic fool, and he doth fool you with his revelry.
He wishes to fall into the water and hold his own face, just as he seeks to fool you with his devilry.
I think of thee on every Eve, of every dawn.
And although it may seem vainglory to strive as the wind cuts the air, it is with god speed I race to warn.

For thy love is blind, and drawn in to temptation by his stories.
His love is but a mask, painted to mimic thy perfect face of love and glory.
I fear for thy heart’s innocence, I care not for his; carved from granite.
And my sweet Jane I love thee, with the letters from every love song, how I long to have sang it.

(with references to greek mythology of Narcissus – the man who fell in love with his reflection and tried to grab it out of the water but fell into the water and drowned in the depths… also references to the story of Adam and Eve)
ahh, sorry forgot to mention this was a little challenge i created for myself. i usually write in modern language and in wondered if i could write like they used to write. && if you cant appreciate that part of poetry then you dont understand much at all.

Its excellent! i like it, i love your use of old language it makes me think of William Blake who is one of my favourites, thanks for posting it.

This is my first time trying something like this. I’m making a 30 gallon half-barrel water garden with 2-3 goldfish, some aquatic snails, and appropriate flora (hyacinth, anacharis, parrot’s feather…). I would like a fountain and filter, but the closest electrical outlet is 50 ft away. I am trying to avoid the hassle of installing UF cable, and have considered as an alternative this solar fountain:
http://www.siliconsolar.com/shop/catalog/Night–Day-Solar-Fountain-Pump-Kit-p-2.html
I can’t tell if the fountain pump is also a filter, and it won’t be running 24/7. I’ve been reading but haven’t been able to determine what degree of filtration is recommended for a container garden with fish. At least it will keep the water from getting stagnant, which may discourage algae growth, and it will help to oxygenate the water. If I were to couple the solar fountain with weekly 20% water changes, would this be sufficient to deter algae growth and keep ammonia/nitrite levels down?

from my experience one has to have a pump going 24/7. this keeps the water flowing and if the pump has a built in filter it also keeps the water clean. occasionally you may have to change the water as depending on how much sun your container pond gets it will have some degree of green water which is algae. the snails help to keep the algae that grows on the bottom and sides of your container cleaner, but a good filter is a definite plus. check with your local Earl May or where ever you are getting the container pond from. Sometimes less is better when it comes to small container ponds as you are wanting to do.

Solar Lights?
icon1 admin | icon2 DIY solar panels | icon4 02 27th, 2010| icon38 Comments »

The ones that have solar panels and and when night time comes they automatically turn on. How do they work? This is for a DIY project I want to try. Also how much power to solar panels generate? What size do solar panels come in? Do they come in the small size that are on solar lights? Also can you buy those solar panels and where?
I’m asking about solar lights it because I want to build a greenhouse for a science project. I need lights shining on the plants 24/7. I saw the solar lights and thought that might be a good concept for lights always shining.
I live in a very sunny part of California so whether there is sun or not is not a problem.

It’s a good concept, the problem is that the light from the solar lights you are talking about is very … what’s the word… weak I guess. I have a few around my place where it wasn’t feasible to run a hardwired light and they’re just barely enough to see where I’m walking. It’s not going to be enough to make the plants think they are in the sunlight 24 hours. You’d need a much stronger lighting system.

My question is one I have searched on Google many times but with no success. I am now using Yahoo! Answers as a last resort to have my question answered.

I already know how to use the trajectory WITHOUT air resistance (drag) but I wish to step up my knowledge and use it WITH air resistance.

The equation for without is this: x=vt*cos(θ) and y=vt*sin(θ)-1/2*gt²
My question is, how do I insert into this equation air resistance? If it requires a formula, please show it. It would also be nice if I see a step-by-step example on how to solve it with air resistance.. Example Problem: A cannon has a velocity of 15 m/s shooting at an angle of 62° at a time of 1 second. The wind is not present, so all that affects the cannon ball is the air resistance. Without Air resistance, the equation equals x=7.04 and y=8.33. Now, I just need to know what the equation equals WITH air resistance.

I also wish to know what would happen and how I would calculate if there is wind affecting the cannon ball. Like, what would be the difference in the cannons trajectory if there is two mile an hour wind (either blowing with or against the cannon ball, your choice! I still learn from it either way.) instead of no wind at all?

This is purely based on my interest, for I do love math so!

Thank you for spending your time to help my education!

You will not find an accurate trajectory equation for a system with air resistance, because the equations describing the drag force contain constants which can change depending on temperature, orientation of the object, ect. And it’s difficult to account for these variables, and it can easily result in chaotic behavior.

The equations for the drag force of a fluid are (air is a fluid)
F = -b v + ½ ρ v² A C

where
F is the force of drag,
ρ is the density of the fluid,[3]
v is the speed of the object relative to the fluid,
A is the reference area,
C is the drag coefficient (a dimensionless parameter)
and
b is a constant that depends on the properties of the fluid and the dimensions of the object.

Usually, you can ignore one of these two terms, depending on whether you’re at high or low speeds. At high speeds v² > v ==> ρ v² A C > b v
At low speeds, v > v² ==> b v > ρ v² A C

For a launching a cannon ball, you’ll probably work in the region of high speeds, and can just use the equation

m y″ = -½ ρ A C ( (x′)²+ (y′)² ) – mg
m x″ = -½ ρ A C ( (x′)²+ (y′)² )

The problem in solving these equations is that C, the drag coefficient, isn’t constant. If you assume it’s constant, then you can solve these coupled differential equations to get trajectory equations.

You should look at the you wikipedia link below which does give the equation for a falling object, but not an equation of an object with a non-zero component of velocity on the x-direction.

moon crashes?
icon1 admin | icon2 solar power kit | icon4 02 25th, 2010| icon32 Comments »

ok so say you were in a rocketship and it crashed on the moon. can you please number these items in the order of important? like whats most important to have would be number1:

– first aid kit
– food concentrate
– portable solar powered heating unit
– life raft
– magnetic compass
– map of stars
– a box of matches
– two large tanks of oxygen
– parachute silk
– two pistols
– powdered milk
– solar powered radio receiver and transmitter
– a nylon rope
– signal flares
– five containers of water

i think that the oxygen would be number 1 but im not sure about the others. i dont really know since ive never really been stranded on the moon. can you help me?

We did this in class last week, and I know for sure that oxygen was number 1…

Look here’s a link to the answer and explanations, just scroll down! Hope this helps! <3
