i am very new to the solar world and i need help with some stuff to understand what i need to do.
what AH battery should i use? i am planning on getting a 12V deep cycle gel based battery but i want to get the most power for my system so should i use something like a few 100AH in a battery bank system or a bunch or 50 or so amp hour batteries in a bank. also what kind of power am i looking at for the best battery system. in other words what kind of basic appliances like lighting, laptop,space heaters etc can can i run on the selected battery system and for how long? any help would be highly appreciated.
60 watts isn’t going to run a space heater for very long. That’s 5 amperes at 12 volts maximum on a sunny day. You could charge a laptop and some LED lights.

WELL WITH ALL OF THE CONNECTIONS SOLDERED AND SET UP, AND THE FRAMEWORK COMPLETED, I FIGURED WE SHOULD TEST THE SOLAR PANELS AND KIT. THE BEST PART WAS THAT THE SUN WAS JUST COMING UP, AND IT WAS VERY COOL TOO. WELL IT COMPLETELY CHARGED A 12 VOLT CAR BATTERY THAT TESTED AT LESS THAN 10 VOLTS, IN ALMOST HALF THE DAY.
THE NEXT DAY I TOOK MEASUREMENTS IN THE MORNING. THE BATTERY HAD HELD 12.75 VOLTS OVER NIGHT. WHEN THE SUN HIT THE SOLAR PANELS, THE BATTERY WENT QUICKLY UP TO 14.25 IN JUST A FEW SECONDS. SOOOO…. IT WAS A COMPLETE SUCCESS. AND THE CHARGE CONTROLLER WAS WORKING JUST FINE.
THE INVERTER WORKED PROPERLY AS SOON AS I SET THE UNIT UP. I HAVE SEVERAL OTHER INVERTERS TO PLAY WITH. INCLUDING A 1500 WATT UNIT. I SURE WISHED I HAD A GRID TIE INVERTER THOUGH. TIME WILL TELL.
