To separate:Put it in the freezer for a night and heat the part to be removed with blowtorch which should loosen it.Several attempts maybe required,try not to directly heat the shaft,need to keep that cooler.These are usually fitted with a several ton press so they are tight.

I hired a mecanic and told him what and how to do in some moments. 2 days with spray anti-rust and very small shocks with a hammer to allow spray to get inside, between the axis and the claw’s hole; then I put the claws ( “pins”, “heads”) on the vice’s jaws, and with a hammer I stroke a bronze drift put it on the head of the axis, several times NOT very hard (I let the NUT on the head of the axis to protect the thread).

1. See ALL the features of a classical-car-alternator !
2. A classical-car-alternator works over 1000RPM (to generate the designed POWER) !
3. If the MAGNETIC FIELD of the magnet is as strong as the M.F. of the coil , and do the same work , obviously : the alternator will generate the same POWER ( as the original design ) !

The GOLDEN RULE ( especially at a prototype): first Calculus (with tests for feed-back), then Practice !!! A device have features (a car-alternator (what type ?) have technical-characteristics such as: Power, Rotation per minute (RPM), etc.). The Calculus considers (analyses) also the Practical facts (e.g.1: the classical rotor (coil) have rings and brushes as electrical-contacts, between them occures sparks which will give magnetic-field with some disturbances; the Average will be different).

The Golden Rule : first Calculus, then Practice; (e.g.2: a car-alternator is for to charge the Battery which have about 12V, but the alternator is regulated to give about 14V); (e.g.3: a car-alternator have diodes; if one of them is broken, the Power will diminish significant); (e.g.4: if the contacts are oxidized, the Power will be smaller);(e.g.5: the magnetic-fields of the magnets usually changes inside of the device; so, tests are good; also same-shapes magnets can have different Structure).

The Golden Rule : first Calculus, then Practice ; (e.g.6: a small car-engine works between about 1000 and 3000 RPM (most of the time at about 1500 RPM); between the engine and the alternator is a transmission-belt; Calculus will consider the real transmission-ratio (for my alternator is about 1); (e.g.7: at a classical alternator the rotor ( coil-”excited” ) gets the tension from Battery to form the magnetic-field, but also the tension generated by the stator’s alternator reaches the rotor ) .
