@ ...
@AlternativePowerMan: I just picked up a +/-125A Smith-Warner Ammeter from eBay for ~$18.00. Saw some +/-150A units there, too. As for wheels, I would definitely do that, mount the Inverter and at least one battery on the same chassis- there seems to be sufficient room to do it.

BTW, where did you get that spider-drive that couples the alternator and engine shafts together? Again, Nice Job!!!!

Its a Delco Remy ...
Its a Delco Remy 24SI pad mount. It makes about 145 amps at 12VDC. From what I can tell it has no trouble reaching its full output. Someday I hope to have an ammeter installed.

I am pretty much finished with the project except I might:
- try to use a larger muffler (or new quiet engine)
- mount the inverter and a very large amp-hour battery in a second chassis
- put the chassis(es) on wheels.

Vote stars please! :-)

Very Nice! (sounds ...
Very Nice! (sounds like a real 3600rpm AC generator) I like the pad-mount alternator and direct drive. What type is the alternator? Can it reach full output at 3600rpm? Can't wait to see the whole package come together.

I got the spider ...
I got the spider drive at a store called Princess Auto. Most any industrial store with drive line products would carry that.
