    hi, we have been …
hi, we have been looking at ideas to build a outdoor light suitable for camping that will light up an area out side tents(better that garden lights) using the sun during the day and providing light at night. also to create a light that can be charged by the sun during the day that can be attached to a tent roof to provide a night light inside the tent for the kids. would this sort of panel work for that or could you provide any ideas.

    This would be a …
This would be a great way to illuminate caves during the daytime at no cost except the original expense. Also to illuminate dark rooms and cellars at no cost except when very cloudy or at night. Of course batteries could supplement for those occasions.

    what size battery …
what size battery would it require to hold enough charge to keep those two lights on for 8-10 hours..
im guessing the panel hooked to the battery and strait to the lights wont need an inverter, correct me if wrong!?

    You have a source …
You have a source for the panels since you priced them? Make, Model and distributors.

    Nice vids btw.

I don’t know what I’d do with a color LED with a remote besides making a Jumbotron in that backyard for movie day. He he. Trying to save money not throw it away.

    “The Light out put …
“The Light out put by spectrum intensity of an LED diode,is capable of higher spectrum light radation, than the Solar radation”

Also, that doesn’t even make sense. Stringing together impressive sounding words is not the same as actually understanding what you’re talking about.

It only works until you meet people who actually know about the subject you’re pretending to.

  11. m3141592 Says:

    “possibly a solar …
“possibly a solar panel pumping water into a higher water storage tower during the day ”

Yes, and then let it run down through a turbine. That would work. It’s called pumped storage hydroelectric when it’s used large scale. Compressed air is also a possibility, or even a large flywheel.

If you don’t believe me, try it. Even if the panel converted 100% of the sunlight to electricity (world record is about 40%) and the leds converted 100% of that electricity into light (maybe up to 85%), you’d still only get the same energy out as you put in.

With real (<100% efficient) components, you’d waste 70% of the power each cycle.

  17. basilenglish Says:

I see what you mean …
I see what you mean, never thought of that, my idea was the pressure is released at the bottom in an enclosure, thus the water level will drop at the top, wich can be refilled using another tank above the main tank, which is filled during the day with solar power. I’m trying to find a way to get power at night without batteries!!!

  18. m3141592 Says:

    “a very heavy weigh …
“a very heavy weigh rises slowly in a tower filled with water”

Unfortunately, to get the weight into the bottom of the water (even with a perfect and frictionless valve and no pressure loss) you will have to displace all of the water upwards (the water level rises when you put something in the bottom) and lifting the water will take more power than the buoyancy can generate.

For more details about that sort of thing google ‘Donald Simanek’.

    Quit being so pessimistic.

  20. basilenglish Says:

    think of this dan, …
think of this dan, a very heavy weigh rises slowly in a tower filled with water, when it reaches the top, it falls in the air generating power, the only problem is hgow to get the object back into the bottom of the tower, as there will have to be some pressure loss, ie water.
possibly a solar panel pumping water into a higher water storage tower during the day !!!?

    “power from one …
“power from one pannel running the lights that power the second pannel?”

Research the meaning of the word “efficiency”.

“like the way power is boosted in a spark coil in an automobile”

The power is not boosted, the voltage is, with a corresponding reduction in current (amperage) and a slight drop in power because they’re less than 100% efficient, like all machines.
