im doing a fun wacky NASA question i have a list of things list from very important to least important
will award 10 points to the person who got the closest in the survival.
(heres the question): You are a member of a space crew originally scheduled to rendezvous with a mother ship on the lighted surface of the moon. However, due to mechanical difficulties, your ship was forced to land at a spot some 200 miles from the rendezvous point. during reentry and landing, much of the equipment was damaged and, since survival depends on reaching the mother ship, the most critical items available must be chosen for the 200-mile trip. Your task is to put in order from what you think is the most important to the very least. (below is the list of th 15 items)
THESE ARE NOT IN ORDER THEY ARE SCRAMBLED
box of matches
food concentrate
50 feet of nylon rope
parachute silk
portable heating unit
2 .45 caliber pistols
one case of dehydrated milk
2 100 lb. tanks of oxygen
stellar map
self-inflating life raft
magnetic compass
20 liters of water
signal flares
first aid kit, including injection needle
Solar-powered FM receiver-transmitter
Thats All
list from most important first then to least important ![]()
will award 10 points!!
Thank you and have fun
This is a very old exercise, designed to make you think – there’s no point in giving you the answers since you’ll have to justify them. btw, the answer above is wrong!

Cute!
Solar-powered FM receiver-transmitter
stellar map
2 100 lb. tanks of oxygen
50 feet of nylon rope
The food stuff is worthless since it requires opening up the suit. Can’t do that (unless you have a death wish),so:
food can’t be eaten
water can’t be drunk
Parachute silk has no use
matches can’t burn (no oxygen)
same for signal flares
magnetic compass needs a mag field to work: none on the Moon
Portable heating unit: to heat what? Suit is insulated to Hell and back
Self inflating life raft: name the body of water to be used on
2 .45 cal pistols: good for suicide, at best. Much easier to open up the helmet.
Now, if you are willing to build yourself a tent with the parachute silk (no tent poles, though) you could trap oxygen from the tanks for a real short time, light a match, shoot a flare (inside the tent!). Can’t figure out why anybody would do that, short of going mental.
